Elvis Aaron Presley - The King

I learned how important it is to entertain people and give them a reason to come and watch you play.

Elvis Presley didn't have the best childhood when he was growing up as his father, Vernon Elvis Presley, had many low paying jobs such as truck driving and sharecropping. His mother Gladys Love Smith was working as a sewing machinist. His parents got married in 1933. Elvis had a identical twin but he was a stillborn (died in the fetus). In, 1946 Elvis turned eleven and for his birthday, as opposed to a shotgun or bicycle that he originally wanted, he received his first guitar. Since Elvis didnt have a guitar teacher his uncle promised to teach him. The whole Presley family moved to Memphis in September 1948. Eventually Elvis got a reputation for having his guitar with him where ever he went such as bars or cafes. He was completely into his guitar and music. In the early years of Elvis' life, he was known to be very shy. Elvis started to work and as he attained some money he started to buy more "funky" clothing and he grew out his sideburns.
Elvis states "Since I was two years old, all I knew was gospel music. That music became such a part of my life it was as natural as dancing. A way to escape from the problems. And my way of release." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley).
On July 18, 1953, Presley went to Sun Records' Memphis Recording Service to record "My Happiness" with "That's When Your Heartaches Begin", supposedly a present for his mother. During his initial introduction at Sun Records, assistant Marion Keisker asked him who he sounded like. Presley replied: "I don't sound like nobody."

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley). This was how Elvis was he considered himself his own genre of music. In 1956, Elvis made a huge breakthrough. He recorded his hit heartbreak hotel, which made him big . The cover of this record is:l

Elvis' First Record

This record sold a total of over a million copies across the United States of America. Elvis then became a hit and he had other big songs too. Such as -
My Baby Left Me
Blue Suede Shoes
I Was The One
Don't Be Cruel
Hound Dog
Any Way You Want Me
Elvis also went into the movie career. His first movie was the movie called Love Me Tender.
Elvis had a huge impact on America. He was considered the founder of rock music. America loved him and it was so sad when he dies in 1976. Elvis had many fans who bought and wore clothes like him and many people still now try to impersonate him. Elvis wasn't the best role model and some kids started doing drugs during that time because of him(the reason why he died) America still remembers him and his legacy goes on mostly in a positive way.

Jailhouse Rock----

Hound Dog

You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

Well they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Yeah they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

[instrumental interlude]

Well they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Yeah they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

[instrumental interlude]

Well they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Ya know they said you was high-classed
Well, that was just a lie
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
And you ain't no friend of mine

You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
You ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Cryin' all the time
Well, you ain't never caught a rabbit
You ain't no friend of mine
